SUBMIT THE FAFSA
You can access the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at fafsa.gov after October 1. The priority filing deadline for Penn State is December 1, but students may still send in the FAFSA after this date. Students will begin to receive their aid award notifications in early February. Aid award notifications will be posted to the student’s LionPATH account.
SET UP TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (2FA)
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of protection that makes it more difficult for someone else to log in to your Penn State account and gain unauthorized access to your personal information as well as sensitive and confidential Penn State resources and data. All Penn State students are required to enroll in and use 2FA to log in to any Penn State system. Learn more and enroll at get2fa.psu.edu
TAKE THE ALEKS MATH ASSESSMENT
The ALEKS Math Assessment is the only math test you are guaranteed not to fail! First-year students who have paid the non-refundable $230 enrollment deposit will receive instructions via the email address provided on their application beginning in early March to complete the ALEKS Mathematics Assessment for placement into math and chemistry courses. ALEKS test results have no bearing on admission to the University but help place you in the appropriate level math course to best ensure your success. orientation.psu.edu/testing
ATTEND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION (NSO)
Upon completion of the ALEKS assessment, first-year students will receive an email on how to register online for the one-day NSO program in June and July. At NSO, you will receive your student ID card, discuss your test results, and schedule classes with an academic advisor. You will also receive your Apple iPad as part of our Digital Fluency project. You will be asked to activate your Penn State Access Account at home before you attend NSO. Your access account is different from your 9-digit Penn State ID. orientation.psu.edu/reservation
SUBMIT IMMUNIZATION RECORDS
All incoming Penn State students must provide proof of immunizations prior to arrival on campus.
To submit: log in to myUHS using your Penn State access credentials, and upload image files of your official immunization records and, if applicable, any positive antibody titer blood test results. For questions or more information, visit www.kapsean.net/immunization
SUBMIT REQUIRED TRAININGS
Prior to arriving on campus, the University requires all incoming first-year students to complete Penn State Safe & Aware, an online learning module about alcohol education and relationship and sexual violence awareness. The goal of this program is to help students make informed decisions as they transition to college life. Information about this program and access to the online training can be found at safeaware.psu.edu.
SET UP PAYMENT
In early August, an electronic bill (eBill) will be emailed to your official University email account, if activated, with instructions to view and/or pay the bill via LionPATH. The payment options will be explained, and any awarded financial aid will show as “Estimated Financial Aid.”
Please note that no paper bills will be mailed.
Parents whose student gives them authorized payer access through LionPATH will receive a message that the bill is available. Students may give access to a parent or guardian at lionpath.psu.edu. Parents can log in to view the bill at public.lionpath.psu.edu. Signing your Financial Responsibility Statement must be done in order to finalize your course registration and ensure that your name appears on class rosters.
SEND FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS
Penn State requires students who have accepted their offer of admission to provide documentation showing their high school completion status. Once you have graduated from high school, be sure to submit your final high school transcript documentation that states the date of graduation.
